Last updated: 12 August 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at just-technologies.org and any related pages, content, and services (together, the "Website"). The Website is operated by Legal Association for Just Technologies ("JUST", "we", "us", or "our"), a [legal form, e.g. foundation (stichting) / association (vereniging)] established under the laws of the Netherlands, with its registered office at [registered address, shown in your materials as Reinier Claeszenstraat 54, 1072 SG Amsterdam], registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) under number [KvK number] and with VAT identification number [BTW number, shown in your materials as NL0432 41231 5423349].

By accessing or using the Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Website.

2. Who we are

JUST is a European legal-intervention organisation that applies and enforces existing legal frameworks to reduce the catastrophic risks of emerging technology, including artificial intelligence and biotechnology. We conduct research, engage in enforcement and advocacy, and build legal capacity so that existing law can be applied when it matters.

3. No legal advice; no lawyer-client relationship

The Website provides legal information for general informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice.

Our publications, reports, legal analyses, case studies, and other materials are intended as general resources for courts, regulators, policymakers, legal practitioners, and the public. They are not tailored to any individual's or organisation's circumstances and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional legal advice from a qualified lawyer in the relevant jurisdiction.

Your use of the Website, including any contact with us through the Website or by email, does not create a lawyer-client relationship, an attorney-client relationship, or any similar professional or fiduciary relationship between you and JUST or its board members, staff, volunteers, or partners. Do not send us confidential or time-sensitive information in reliance on any such relationship, and do not act or refrain from acting on the basis of Website content without seeking appropriate professional advice.

4. Permitted use of the Website

You may access and use the Website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

  • use the Website in any way that breaches applicable local, national, or international law or regulation;
  • use the Website in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent, or that has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, the server on which it is stored, or any server, computer, or database connected to it;
  • interfere with, damage, or disrupt the Website or any equipment or network on which it is hosted, including by introducing viruses, malware, or other harmful material;
  • use any automated system (such as scraping or data-harvesting tools) to access or copy the Website in a manner that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, except for legitimate search-engine indexing; or
  • misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or impersonate JUST or any of its representatives.

We reserve the right to restrict or withdraw access to the Website, in whole or in part, where we reasonably consider it necessary.

5. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, JUST or its licensors own the intellectual property rights in the Website and in all material published on it, including text, publications, graphics, the "Just" wordmark and arrow logo, and design. These works are protected by copyright and other laws.

You may view, download, and print content from the Website for your own personal, non-commercial reference, and you may quote from or cite our publications for research, educational, journalistic, or professional purposes, provided that you do so accurately, do not alter the meaning, and attribute the material to JUST.

Except as expressly permitted above or by applicable law, you may not reproduce, distribute, modify, republish, or exploit any content from the Website for commercial purposes without our prior written permission. The "Just" and "Legal Association for Just Technologies" names and the associated logo may not be used without our prior written consent.

If any of our materials are published under an open licence (for example, a Creative Commons licence), the terms of that licence will apply to those materials and, where they conflict with this section, will prevail for that material.

6. Submissions and enquiries

If you contact us through the Website or by email, for example to enquire about volunteering, a partnership, or pro bono support, you are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide is accurate and that you are entitled to share it.

Please do not send us confidential, privileged, or proprietary information through the Website or by unsolicited email. Any material you send us that is not personal data (which we handle in accordance with our Privacy Policy) will be treated as non-confidential, and we may use it for the purposes for which it was submitted without any obligation to you, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

7. Third-party links

The Website may contain links to third-party websites, resources, or materials. These links are provided for convenience and information only. We do not control, endorse, or accept responsibility for the content, accuracy, or availability of any third-party website or resource, and access is at your own risk.

8. Donations

Where the Website enables donations, any payment is processed by third-party payment providers, and you are subject to their terms and privacy practices in addition to these Terms. Donations support our work as described on the Website and, unless stated otherwise, are not made in exchange for any goods or services. Please check the applicable rules on tax deductibility in your jurisdiction, as we do not guarantee any particular tax treatment.

9. No warranties

The Website and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we take reasonable care to ensure that the information on the Website is accurate and up to date, we make no representations or warranties, express or implied, that the Website or its content is complete, accurate, current, reliable, uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

Legal and factual matters relating to emerging technologies evolve rapidly. Content may not reflect the most recent legal, regulatory, or scientific developments, and we are under no obligation to update it.

10. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Subject to the paragraph above, and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, JUST and its board members, staff, volunteers, and partners will not be liable for any loss or damage, whether direct or indirect, arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Website, or your reliance on any content on it. This includes any decision made or action taken in reliance on legal information published on the Website.

11. Privacy and cookies

Our handling of personal data and our use of cookies are described in our [Privacy Policy] and [Cookie Policy], which form part of your use of the Website. Please review them to understand our practices.

12. Availability and changes to the Website

We aim to keep the Website available but do not guarantee that it will always be accessible or operate without interruption. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict the availability of all or part of the Website for operational, maintenance, or other reasons, and we may change or remove content at any time without notice.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force is the one published on this page, and the "Last updated" date indicates when it was most recently revised. Your continued use of the Website after any change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Website (including non-contractual disputes or claims), are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands. The District Court of Amsterdam (Rechtbank Amsterdam) will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules give you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.

15. Contact

If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us at [contact email, e.g. info@just-technologies.org].
